Gradara's Castle
The oldest nucleus of the Castle of Gradara dates back to the twelfth century, when a tower was built by the De Grifo family, while The fortress and the two walls were built mainly between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries by the Malatestas, The Castle of Gradara is famous not only for its imposing architecture, but also for being the setting for the tragic love story of Paolo and Francesca, narrated by Dante in the "Divine Comedy".
