The landscapes of the Italian valleys are dotted with abandoned rural buildings or what remains of them: a legacy of a past where the predominant activity of these mountainous and foothill areas was agriculture which was followed, starting from the 1960s, what is defined as "the escape from the countryside" towards urban centers. Mapping these rural buildings means having an overview of the existing structures: a precondition for evaluating redevelopment and relaunch projects.
