The history of Piandimeleto is linked to that of its imposing Castle of the Counts Oliva. Its origin dates back to the thirteenth century, but it was in the fourteenth century that the powerful Oliva family, of Germanic origin, made it their home and the center of their fiefdom. The village of Piandimeleto still retains its medieval layout, with perpendicular streets and ancient houses. The Parish Church of San Biagio, an ancient church of the thirteenth century, with a Gothic portal and tombstones of the Oliva family and fifteenth-sixteenth-century frescoes inside, is worth a visit.
