The town is made up of a castle located on the top of a hill, around which a small village has developed. The castle dates back to the beginning of the 11th century, although part of the perimeter walls, the access door and some internal walls that have recently been restored remain. Unfortunately, the castle suffered a long siege first by the Arezzo people who destroyed it, and then by the army of Charles V who passed through Caprese in August 1527.
