Every moment of the year is an opportunity to plan a visit to the town of Santarcangelo di Romagna and enjoy its places. Lying on a soft hill, called the hill of Jupiter, even today it is well recognizable the typical structure of the fortified village of medieval plant that characterizes it. Mount Jupiter is crossed by a dense network of mysterious tuffaceous caves remarkable for their architectural beauty on whose origins and uses the debate is still open. Some claim that they served as cellars, others instead that they were places of worship. Today, some of these caves are open to visitors.Clearly visible, in the central square Ganganelli, the great triumphal arch erected in 1777 by the citizens in honor of the fellow Pope Clement XIV (Ganganelli precisely, 1705-1774). Torre del Campanone, Porta Cervese, Piazza delle Monache, Collegiate Church, Pieve di San Michele, Sferisterio are all characteristic places to visit that give this village its particular charm. Finally, one cannot help but admire the valuable works preserved at the MUSAS Archaeological Historical Museum, a rich heritage of art and culture, a unique testimony of the history of the Santarcangiolese territory and its people. Of equal importance is the MET - Ethnographic Museum of the Uses and Customs of the People of Romagna, dedicated to popular traditions and the cultural identity of the place.Santarcangelo is also a country that gave birth to great artists, remember in particular Guido Cagnacci, authentic master of seventeenth-century painting, Tonino Guerra, screenwriter of famous directors – his screenplay of Amarcord by Federico Fellini –, the dialect writers Raffaello Baldini and Nino Pedretti.
