This town is located between the valleys of the rivers Savio and Marecchia, on the hills of Montefeltro, near Rimini.Sant'Agata is a splendid ancient town, well preserved, with different buildings of notable historic value; it is best to visit this town from spring to autumn when the weather is nice.Sant’Agata is steeped in spirituality with a high concentration of mystic places like sanctuaries and convents.Very well known is the National Fair of the Prized White Truffle which takes place very year in October on Sundays. Also, this town's Christmas markets are very interesting.

Fregoso Fortress

The fortress was built about the year 1000 on the crag known as Sasso del Lupo, Wolf Rock. Its historic name, “Petra anellaria” derives from the circular shape of the rock on which it stands. It was restored and fortified by Francesco di Giorgio Martini in 1474. From 1506 to 1660 it was a fief of the illustrious Campofregoso family of Genoa; they transformed it into an aristocratic residence suitable for their elegant court.

The Candido Way takes place mainly in the Montefeltro Romagnolo of the upper Valmarecchia, touching the upper Val Tiberina and the right side of the Savio river.It crosses 5 municipalities; four Emilia-Romagna (Sant'Agata Feltria, Casteldelci, Pennabilli, in the Province of Rimini; Verghereto in the Province of Forlì-Cesena) and a Tuscan one (Badia Tedalda, in the province of Arezzo). Its length is about 120 km. It consists of seven daily stages, quite challenging, suitable for trained walkers.
